If I could, I would give this a 4.5 rating. I love Guy’s videos, so this gets high marks too. I think any reservation (dislike is too strong a word) derives from my own (perhaps faulty) expectations. Maybe it’s the teacher in me.
Because the many excellent videos are free online (thank you!), I sort of imagined that this would contain less chatter and stream of consciousness (which I love in the videos, by the way). I imagined that it would contain all the neat templates, tables, and steps that Guy develops in the videos–and it sort of does. It just gets a little lost in the fluff text. Of course, if you’ve never seen the videos, this book is a 5/5. If you’ve seen the videos, though, it is somewhat less useful. I guess I was hoping for it to be a bit more comprehensive. This is nit-picking though. Thank you for the good work. Keep it up. I share your site with every gamer that I meet. You guys have elevated gaming videos and content to a new level. Well done.

The audio book seems like it was recorded with retakes when Guy messed up, but then was never edited to remove the times when he misspoke. Makes it harder to listen to. Would rather he just messed up and didn’t pause then restate it than having this, makes the Audiobook really hard to listen to.

What a fantastic book. Excellent material presented in a comprehensive and accessible way. One could not wish for more from such a Great GM.
